The CFDC was joined by a number of prominent organizations as we submitted comments to the US EPA on the SAFE Rule in which we called for a transition to Higher Octane Fuels. Clean burning, low carbon ethanol is a low-cost source of octane that would enable automakers to significantly improve mileage while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and a range of dangerous pollutants. In addition to CFDC, organizations signing on to the comments included the Environmental and Energy Study Institute, the Governors’ Biofuels Coalition, the Nebraska Ethanol Board, the Urban Air Initiative, the National Farmers Union, Farmers Union Enterprises, and Farmers Union Chapters from Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
