Doug Durante, executive director of the Clean Fuels Development Coalition, says the industry is still trying to figure out how to deal with the new administration. One thing is for sure, Durante says–the ethanol industry’s argument that it reduces greenhouse gas emissions and helps clean the air doesn’t resonate with the Trump team.

While the expression that the devil is in the details is trite and overused, it certainly fits when assessing the “Deal” supposedly reached this week on ethanol.

“The uncertainty of this whole Renewable Fuel Standard after 2022 raises a lot of questions,” says Doug Durante, executive director of the Clean Fuels Development Coalition. “As we’ve preached for a long time, let’s try to plan out a pathway that looks at a world without the Renewable Fuel Standard.”
